PURPLE DISCO MACHINE Celebrates Gold for ‘Substitution’
Dresden-based DJ and producer Purple Disco Machine was awarded a Gold certification for his single ‘Substitution’ featuring Kungs and Julian Perretta in early April. The award was presented by Columbia Records in Berlin.
The recognition honors the song as the second most played track on German radio in 2023, having achieved a remarkable 300 million streams and nearly 60 million YouTube views worldwide since its release in March 2023. Previously, ‘Substitution’ had already achieved Gold status in Italy and Hungary, as well as Platinum in France and Belgium.
The award reflects the continuous presence and success of the artist in the international music scene. Starting in October this year, Purple Disco Machine will embark on his first major European tour, with stops in major German cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, and Stuttgart. His performance at the California Coachella Festival on the second weekend of April marks just the beginning of a series of international festival appearances, including EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland.
Jean Sebastien Permal (Vice President A&R):
“With ‘Substitution‘, Purple Disco Machine once again proves his significant impact on shaping dance music culture. He not only keeps showcasing his skills as an amazing producer by sampling Alphaville’s “Big In Japan”, but also by bringing along Kungs and Julian Peretta as collaborators, making this disco-infused song a massive hit dance record.”
