James Arthur honored for three billion Spotify streams
British artist James Arthur has been awarded by Sony Music for achieving over three billion streams on Spotify with his hit song ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’. This is only the 15th song in the history of the platform to reach this milestone. In total, the song has been streamed more than four billion times.
‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ spent three weeks at number one in the UK charts following its release in 2016 and has since achieved six-times platinum status for more than 3.6 million sales in the UK. In the US, the song was even awarded Diamond for more than 10 million sales.
„James Arthur is an extraordinary artist who has already touched millions of people with his songs. We are incredibly happy and proud to present him with an award for another extraordinary achievement. We are sure that James will continue to touch and impress us with his music and look forward to everything that is to come“, says Daniel Malat, Senior Vice President Columbia Label Group, Sony Music Entertainment Germany.
James says, “I’m so proud of writing this little ditty, one of just 15 songs in history to reach 3 BILLION streams on Spotify. We’ve taken it around the world and back and everywhere we go everyone knows the words. It’s incredible how many lives it’s touched.”
At the beginning of the year, the artist’s latest album “Bitter Sweet Love” reached number one in the UK charts. This success was crowned by a sold-out arena tour through the UK and Europe, which culminated in Middlesbrough, the artist’s hometown, in front of 25,000 fans. His new single ‘ADHD’ will be released next Friday (November 22, 2024).
