Sony Music and Black Future Week host Music Label Day for BIPoC in Berlin
Last Saturday, February 22, 2025, HUE (‘Helping Unite Everyone’), Sony Music’s BIPoC employee group, cooperated with Black Future Week to host a Music Label Day for BIPoC on the occasion of Black History Month. At Fotografiska Berlin, the participants were given an insight into the music industry and the diverse career opportunities within a record label. Among other things, the areas of Artist & Repertoire, Product Management, Music Licensing and Commercial Sales were presented. The workshop day also addressed the importance of a diverse environment in order to encourage future talent.
“Visibility is crucial to reflect the diversity of the world in companies. Events like this create space for exchange, networking and new perspectives – and are essential to remain successful in a sustainable and far-reaching way,” says Peggy Adamu, Head of Content Strategy & Operations at Sony Music GSA and member of HUE.
Last year, HUE and Black Future Week jointly organized a “Record Label 101” workshop for young people in Berlin. Furthermore, a meeting of the BEN (“Black Entertainment Network”) was held on February 7, 2025, at the Sony Music headquarters in Berlin, where BIPoC executives and members of the Berlin creative industry connected and exchanged ideas.
