Sony Music employees launch diversity initiative
Sony Music introduces “EYO – Embrace Yourself and Others!”, the newly founded employee network consisting of LGBTQI+ employees and allies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The aim of “EYO” is to further strengthen awareness work by organizing panel talks, events and info posts on topics relating to diversity and inclusion.
With members from all areas of the company, the group wants to offer a safe space for queer employees and promote and celebrate diversity throughout the company from within the workforce. The kick-off of activities already took place with the participation at the career fair for LGBTQI+ employees and allies “Sticks & Stones” on June 11, 2022 in Berlin, which attracted over 2000 visitors.
In July, EYO organized a panel talk together with actor, speaker and trans* activist Brix Schaumburg to share the experience of queer employees in the workplace. The activities will be followed up by Sony Music’s participation in Christopher Street Day on July 23 in Berlin. The motto of this year’s demonstration is “United in Love – against hate, war and discrimination” which will also be taken up on the float with about 170 Sony Music employees. In addition to performances by some Sony Music artists, activist rallies will also take place.
Martin Staudigl, Vice President People Experience GSA: “At Sony Music, all talents, including LGBTQI+ talents, should be able to develop as themselves without discrimination. This includes inclusive internal structures all year round. The new EYO network is an important part of this journey. Because Sony Music sounds even better when it’s colorful.”
As a signatory of the “Charta der Vielfalt” and supporter of the “Zeig die 3” campaign and the “Grundgesetz für alle” petition last year, Sony Music has been committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace for many years in GSA.
