Tate McRae receives Gold for ‘Greedy’ in Germany

Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae has once again received an award. Her single ‘Greedy‘ has been certified Gold, making it Tate’s fastest track to achieve this milestone. The award was presented by the Sony Music team during her sold-out concert in Berlin this May.

‘Greedy’ was released on September 15, 2023, via RCA Records as the lead single from her second album “Think Later“. The song went viral on TikTok and YouTube even before its release. Following its release, the single quickly topped the charts, securing high positions in the global and German Spotify Charts. Since its release, ‘Greedy’ has been streamed over 100 million times in Germany alone.

Brook Demissie, VP RCA & GOLD LEAGUE: “It’s remarkable what Tate McRae has delivered in recent years and how she continues to raise the bar with each project. Eight months after its release, ‘Greedy’ remains on the official single and airplay charts. Tate has proven she’s at the pinnacle of pop not only with her streaming numbers but also through her outstanding performances during her rapidly sold-out European tour. Congratulations to Tate and the entire team for this fantastic success.”

‘Greedy’ is inspired by challenging experiences in nightlife. The artist reflects on fleeting club encounters, which she confidently rejects. Tate herself describes it as a “female empowerment song,” encouraging millions of fans to stand up for their independence and self-love.

From an early age, the 20-year-old has proven herself as one of the world’s rising pop stars. Tate began her YouTube career at the age of eight, primarily with dance videos. At 14, she released the single ‘one day,’ which garnered 40 million views and was certified Gold in Canada. In 2020, she achieved international breakthrough with the song ‘you broke me first,’ a story about heartbreak, which was certified Platinum in Germany.
